Hi everyone!
This is the ultimate Newsletter of De Suikertuin before our official opening. From June 8 on our doors will be open from Mondays through Saturdays! Currently we are painting the last batch of chairs, taking care that Martijn’s paintings are hanging straight and we are waiting for the installation of the kitchen equipment, which is due next week. Meanwhile the kitchen cabinets are stocked with plates and cutlery and the coffee machine is working. Gas will be connected as we speak, we hope and the new `uniforms’ in earth colors look stunning. The giant pots with church palms from Fantastic Gardens have been placed on the sidewalk. New and very enthusiastic additions to our staff are Marjorie Figaroa and Inge Milaan, formerly of De Dissel and Brisas del Mar. Marjorie used to be the smiling chef at Délifrance.
De Suikertuin’s menu is almost print-ready. We can disclose that we will have daily High Tea options, of course with scones and clotted cream, a choose-everything-yourself, custom-made sandwich and Dutch favorites like Filet Americain, Sandwich with Beef (Broodje Warm Vlees) and great salads. Our wines come from the Arion Wine Company (Govert v.d. Hout) and include a white, South African wine (Goya), a dry rosé (Carmen) and a white Zinfandel (Vendange). You will have to come and try everything, as we would love to hear your suggestions and comments.
Three (yes, three!) parties are in the pipeline and we are not even open! We told you already about the wedding party on June 9, but we also have a birthday party and a `despedida’ (goodbye) party lined up as well as several regular caterings for businesses. A bi-monthly English High Tea on Sundays is still in the planning stage, but we heard already some sensual oooohs and aaaahs when we casually mentioned it. Oh gosh, what have we unleashed?
Maybe you have wondered where to park when you want to stop by at De Suikertuin: well, you can use the parking lot opposite Brenchie’s and Garufa. We shall stamp your parking ticket and voilà, your parking is free of charge.
And now on a more personal note: we are thrilled with your positive reactions on De Suikertuin and we hope that you will be a Suikertuin regular in the future. For those of you who do not know us very well: we are long-time, very good friends and business partners (so No Sex – at least not with each other!). Now you know! Together with Xandra, Marjorie, and Inge, we extend a heartfelt welcome to you. We hope we may be there for you to help you out at any catering, birthday happening, impromptu party or get-together. A do you know: you can easily walk to the Town Hall and back from De Suikertuin, so have a festive coffee before your wedding ceremony and a fantastic lunch afterward. Just a suggestion
Photos do not show any details, just our smiling faces. We wished to keep De Suikertuin’s makeover a surprise until the last moment. Thank you for all your good wishes and we hope to see you next week at De Suikertuin!
