Hello everyone! Greetings from De Suikertuin, our new and exciting restaurant in the Wilhelminastraat. Formerly called La Fondue, the place is now undergoing major renovations and primping and we hope to be able to welcome you on June 1st at our Grand Opening.
Through this Newsletter, we wish to keep you up to date on the progress we are making. You will be with us through the ups and downs during the coming few months and you will know the color of the thick, brick walls, the decorations and the landscaping of the cute garden before anyone else through this publication. After June 1st De Suikertuin Newsletter will continue to keep you abreast of all major happenings at our place, our specials, changes in the menu and upcoming celebrations. If you provide us with enough sizzling material, we shall even start a gossip column!
On Sunday, March 8 we celebrated the fact that we finally got the keys and signed the lease of this stunning, historic mansion. It might not look like much at this time, but we promise that this gem will be restored to its former glory in no time flat. Friends showed up in droves, champagne flowed freely and the snacks arrived, after all, one hour late. We are sure that your imagination worked overtime, standing in those barren, empty rooms of the house.
For those of you who did not get the grand tour of the house: the front porch will be used as an outside, sit-down bar. Enter through the front door and you will see a cozy seating area plus a reading table. In the in-between rooms and in the back will be tabled for four or two people, but we also have our back porch as ace-in-the-hole. As De Suikertuin’s opening hours are from 7 am till 5 pm, regular coffee, as well as designer coffees, will be on the menu, so you can have your morning coffee and read the latest news or splurge on tea with the cake with friends in the afternoon if you had your breakfast or lunch.
De Suikertuin’s colors will be mustard and cream; maybe you saw the splashes of paint on the front wall when you entered at our first happening. The restaurant will be truly amazing, emerging slowly but surely, so keep your eyes peeled!
