Hello dear friends and guests,
This is the November issue of De Suikertuin’s Newsletter. It has been a while since our last communication, so there is a lot to tell you about. We are hereby announcing upcoming happenings like the Theme Discussion Evening and the Special for a Cause project.
But first back in time. Our Special for a Cause has been a huge success. Many guests ordered the Keshi Yena or other specials, of which a percentage went towards the foundation that provides breakfast for children who go to school hungry. (Ban Uni Man pa Cria Nos Muchanan). The Arion Wine Company joined the action and donated a percentage of wines sold as well.
Our second charity of choice is the Autism Foundation. With an estimated 600 to 800 afflicted children and adults on the island, the foundation’s mission is to create awareness, offer support, educate, provide information and help out where needed. As autism appears in various forms and in varying degrees, there is not one standard treatment that suits all. Although autism cannot be cured, huge improvements in behavior and communication may be accomplished to improve the quality of life of people with autism. So please come and order our Special for a Cause with a glass of wine, thus catching two birds with one stone.
Looking back on October, De Suikertuin has had quite a busy month: there were a few fantastic catering parties, a wedding, a few birthdays, the visit of the owner of Wente Vineyards and a lively discussion evening. The theme of this evening was awareness, and the discussion flowed around personal awareness and growth, misunderstandings and misconceptions. Most interesting! About 20 people had registered for the evening, and it was in some aspects an eye-opener. Petra van den Berg was the moderator, and she did a great job. Our next discussion evening is held on Wednesday, November 4, so please register with us if you want to join.
Christmas is approaching rapidly, so we would like to take this opportunity to bring to your attention that De Suikertuin is absolutely perfect to host your private party in the evening, your office Christmas lunch, cocktail party or a really Christmassy High Tea. Gaston and Willeke are at your service, whatever crazy ideas for a party at De Suikertuin or on the location you might have. Keep us in mind, please!
