Hello friends!
De Suikertuin has been open for three hectic weeks now, and it is high time to get you up to speed about what has been happening so far and about an upcoming event. Yes, we are going to have our first `Lunetta Prosecco’ party! Held on Friday, July 3, there will be lots of Prosecco by the glass or by the bottle, hors-d’oeuvres and swinging music by two great Cuban musicians, one playing the guitar and the other the bongos: pure acoustic Cuban pleasure. The Prosecco Happy Hour starts at 5.30 and will go on until 9 pm. You don’t need to make reservations for that, but you do if you wish to have a bite. We are serving a fish skewer with fried garlic potatoes and a salad from 7 pm on. The price? AWG. 25,–. Call for reservations now!
Prosecco is a huge hit in Holland and people are swigging it by the bucketful. It is a delicately sparkling wine which is fruity and light and it has a clean finish. Try it on Friday and you will be hooked for life; we are warning you!
Back in early June, when we opened De Suikertuin’s doors. Our Open House took place on June 5 and boy, what a party it was. So many flowers and gifts, so many compliments and oohs and aahs and so many friendly faces. We can’t thank you enough for all your kind words, constructive criticisms and most of all, for returning to De Suikertuin so many times. From June 7 on we have been doing great with breakfasts and lunches and we are most grateful for your support.
On June 8 we had a wedding at De Suikertuin. Bride Marjolein and Lennart van Mierlo came walking in with their festively dressed guests after the civil ceremony at the town hall: they looked gorgeous and very happy indeed. Xandra, Inge and our other staffers worked their tails off that Tuesday, as the restaurant was doing a brisk business at the same time. That first week was tough for all of us, as everything that could go wrong, went wrong. The freezer broke down, as did the coffee machine and the credit card machine stopped working: Murphy’s Law in exercise!
But now we are getting the hang of it and it has been smooth sailing so far. In a few weeks’ time we shall review the menu, make some changes and insert some surprises, so keep coming to see what is new.
For now, we are looking forward to seeing you on Friday; we hope you can make it to our first Lunetta Prosecco party.
