Hey there, this is already our Newsletter Number Three. Time flies when you’re having fun or when you are revamping a dilapidated building in the Wilhelminastraat. It is May already! Just a few more weeks to go before we are opening our De Suikertuin doors. This Newsletter contains lots of good news: the back garden is idyllic, with its giant tree dressed to kill with a wooden skirt-table and chairs. The vases are by Bloemex Ned of Henny Bloemendaal. The bathrooms are presentable, the kitchen appliances are starting to come in and the lighting fixtures have been installed by Tony and Waldi, pictured seated with us at our new table.
Several chairs and a wonderful reading table by magician carpenter Frank Venis have been delivered. Come and try them out when you stop by to check up on us. The cushions have been made by Monique of Monchique in the colors soft mustard, cream, and orange. The artwork on the walls is going to be abstract oil paintings in strong, primal colors, thanks Martijn! And how do you like our old-timer lamps? We love them.
In the meantime, we have been busy with lots and lots of details concerning the menu and the decorations of De Suikertuin. The menu is taking shape and I think you will be pleasantly surprised when you see the various options. We are planning a take-out and delivery service for clients in a hurry and of course, any meeting at your office can be catered by De Suikertuin. Whether it is a power breakfast, a coffee klatsch, a lunch meeting, a cocktail party or a reception: De Suikertuin is at your service.
De Suikertuin has a mosaic front step now, personally inlaid by artist Willeke. She and her friend Roos have also taken their mosaic skills to a new level when they made their Suikertuin bathroom mirrors. This was done during a class with Wilma of the Kreabus and Wilma herself came to bring them to the restaurant.
And now we are waiting for our kitchen, which is still in Miami and waiting to be shipped by Robert from Artec. We bought our dinnerware at Home & Nature, so as soon as the kitchen is where we are ready to go.
Our very first Wedding Party is coming up! As soon as our Newsletter Number Two was mailed, the phone started ringing and a wedding party was booked. Wow. We’ll keep you posted!
Well, this was all for now. The three musketeers Xandra, Willeke and Gaston may be paint-splattered, dust-covered and grimy, but they are going strong! Expect De Suikertuin’s opening to take place in the second week of June!
